David Moyes may move upstairs when his contract expires and has plenty of suitors

David Moyes' deal expires this season and he may call it quits on management
UEFA are known to be keen on utilising his experience and may offer a position

By Mike Keegan

David Moyes may already be spoilt for choice when his West Ham contract expires at the end of the season.

After a turbulent summer, the Scot’s future at the club was in doubt — despite him leading the Hammers to Europa Conference League success.

Issues over signings and direction were resolved to the extent that Moyes has remained in post but sources have disclosed that it is unlikely a deal to extend his existing role will be forthcoming.

Instead, West Ham execs are considering offering the 60-year-old the opportunity to move upstairs. They may well, however, face competition.

UEFA are known to be keen on utilising Moyes’s experience and may well offer him some form of technical position aimed at tapping into his 25 years in the dugout.

Liverpool, West Ham United 'join race for Napoli's Piotr Zielinski'

Napoli midfielder Piotr Zielinski has reportedly emerged as a potential transfer target for Liverpool and West Ham United.

Since moving to Naples in 2016 for a fee in the region of €16m, Zielinski has established himself as a club legend.

A total of 50 goals and 46 assists have been contributed in 343 appearances in all competitions, the Poland international playing a key role in last season's Serie A title triumph.

However, Zielinski is now well into the final year of his contract at Stadio Diego Armando Maradona, putting teams on high alert regarding a potential free transfer.

Last week, it was claimed that each of Barcelona and Inter Milan were each monitoring the situation as they assess the possibility of acquiring the services of the versatile 29-year-old for nothing.

Sporting director Mauro Meluso has since insisted that both parties are working towards signing a contract extension, rather than the player pushing to take a new challenge.

Nevertheless, while he remains without a fresh deal, Zielinski will naturally stay as a transfer target for a wide array of clubs around Europe.

According to Corriere dello Sport, Liverpool and West Ham are among the latest clubs to highlight Zielinski as a possible addition.

From the perspective of Liverpool, they have just spent the summer transfer window signing several different midfielders with contrasting qualities.

That said, Zielinski would act as another experienced head and also provide backup on the left-hand side of the pitch if required.

Meanwhile, West Ham have also invested heavily in the engine room with Edson Alvarez and James Ward-Prowse each establishing themselves as first-choice picks.

David Moyes arguably requires another option, though, to compete with Tomas Soucek, the preference this season having been to move Lucas Paqueta out to the left-hand side.

The report adds that Juventus - who have had well-documented issues off the pitch and with FFP - would be interested in tempting Zielinski to Turin.

West Ham and Crystal Palace keen on 27-year-old striker

West Ham United and Crystal Palace are reportedly keen on signing Kelechi Iheanacho from Leicester City.

The 27-year-old striker is in the final year of his contract with the Championship club and he could move on as a free agent in the summer. As per TeamTalk, the two London clubs could look to make their move in January so that they can sign him for a nominal price.

It would make sense for Leicester City to sell him for a reasonable price in January instead of losing him for free at the end of the season. Iheanacho has been a useful player for Leicester City this season, scoring six goals and picking up two assists across all competitions.

He has played in the Premier League in the past and he could prove to be a useful acquisition for West Ham and Crystal Palace. The Hammers certainly need to add more depth to their attack, and Iheanacho could provide a quality alternative to Michail Antonio.

West Ham will be hoping to secure Europa League qualification this season and signing the right players in January could make a big difference for them. They have already improved their attack with the arrival of Mohammed Kudus and signing a reliable goalscorer could prove to be a wise decision.

Similarly, Crystal Palace need to add more cutting edge in the final third and the 27-year-old Leicester City striker would be a solid option for them in the attack.
